Astro photography along the Copper Coast

Astro photography along the Copper Coast

Along the Copper Coast there is little light pollution. Only towns as Bunmahan and Dungarvan create some light pollution. So when there is a clear sky, combined with a new moon, the galaxy above us, really opens up.

To see the Milky Way, August/September is the best time of year. On the 12th of September, I went together with Jonathan Power, to Trá na mBó near Bunmahon and I took the shot that I had in my mind for a long time, the sea stack with the Milky Way.

Obviously this was not the first night I went to shoot the stars, so it is time to put some of the results in a ‘Astro blog’.

Hope you like them.

National Bird of Prey Centre

National Bird of Prey Centre

With the recently formed photogroup ‘The Viewfinders’, I went to the National Bird of Prey Centre at Rossborough House in Wicklow.

This was something completely out of my comfort zone, but I enjoyed every minute of it.

I actually had to check the manual of my camera because the settings of the camera are so different than when doing landscapes, especially when try to shoot them during flight.

Hope you enjoy the images

Crough Wood revisited

Crough Wood revisited

As I mentioned in my post of Crough Wood early October, I wanted to revisit Crough Wood again when the autumn colours are most vibrant. Last weekend I went back to this beautiful spot and it didn’t disappoint. Hope you like it too.
